Julie Dawn Fox
I’m originally from the UK but after a round-the-world backpacking trip in my late twenties, I realised that I needed to live somewhere sunnier than Britain so I became a TEFL teacher and moved to Spain.
Teaching English abroad has been a great way to get to know other countries and cultures and meet lots of amazing people. It’s also what brought me to Portugal, where I live now, with my husband, Mike, and Daisy the dog. I still teach but I spend most of my time writing, travelling and taking photos.
I blog about living and travelling in Portugal and through that, I’ve already met some lovely people and been inspired by them. One thing leads to another, and now that my personal blogging challenge has proved so popular, I’m really excited to see what happens when even more people get involved.

I am a qualified teacher with experience teaching across all age ranges and abilities, and my most recent post was as a Director of Education for the Church of England. I have also worked as a senior education adviser; and previously worked for 13 years as a Police Officer in both Devon and Cornwall.
I am married to Dave; a retired Police Sergeant; and we now call the Algarve home, having owned a house here for several years. I now follow my heart and passion, working full-time as an artist, painting mainly in acrylics, and creating modern bright pictures inspired by the wonderful light of the Algarve. You can see more of my work here at our A3 Art web-site http://www.a3art.co.uk/section463021.html
I have two blogs – one about our move to live in Portugal called Algarve Blog http://algarveblog.net/ and another wider blog called The Thought Palette http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/ – which has things to challenge and inspire (and the occasional rant!) Dave is a wonderful photographer and I often send him out with a strange requests for photos for my blogs, so that they are always colourful and full of images for you to enjoy.
